Sherpa is a technology company that produces both native and web app solutions for the event industry, around the world. I was hired by Sherpa at the beginning of 2021 to develop and design their brand identity.
After researching competitor branding, I noticed there was a design trend. There was a pattern amongst them of using cold colours and impersonal tech-oriented imagery. Since Sherpa strives to stand apart from the crowd, we chose to incorporate warmer colours into our branding as well as a mix of tech imagery combined with “warmer”, more humanistic lifestyle images.
I drew inspiration from the the Sherpa people of the Himalayan region and their mountaineering expertise to guide their own clients on Mount Everest. It’s for this reason that I researched topographic maps of Everest which can use colour gradient to differentiate altitude. This is why you will see the use of gradient incorporated into the Sherpa brand identity.
